Film Festival Postcard Analysis #2
(Apologies for the low definition image - I couldn't find a better quality for it.)
This postcard is especially intriguing as it averts several conventions. For one, there is little to no explanation to be seen as to the relation between the title "3000 Nights" and the subject of the image; a mother and her child. No logline is displayed; the photograph is left to tell the story on its own, which is not especially hard to do considering the rather meaningful quality of the picture.
The postcard is unapologetic in its format, displaying several dates and credits instead of accommodating the viewer by offering further explanation. This is especially refreshing when you take postcard conventions into account - the viewer moves from a passive to an active stance, forced to do further research in order to reach a better understanding and grasp of the concept of the film.
The dates displayed in place of the logline tempt the viewer into watching it; a very successful marketing strategy.
